Job Description

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are actively seeking a Program Delivery Manager to join our team and drive excellence for our clients and the industry. Specifically, an individual who can lead a complex portfolio of design-focused projects in a fast-changing environment. The ideal candidate will help modernize project delivery within a post-acquisition landscape, acting as both a strategist and hands-on delivery lead, and will be pivotal in preparing our organization for scalable growth. We need a hybrid program/product management leader who can establish order and drive impact. This role calls for a “player-coach” – someone who can provide strategic guidance and mentorship while also rolling up their sleeves to execute. The ideal candidate possesses strong program/project management skills, a product-oriented mindset, and is adept at creating processes from scratch to enhance consistency and efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Reporting to our Resource Manager, as a Full-Time Specialist embedded on our client’s team, you will work hybrid 2-3 days a week from the local office and oversee a portfolio of ~13 concurrent design projects, guiding them from initiation through successful delivery. A key part of your role will be to implement product delivery best practices and introduce needed structure so that projects run smoothly across the organization. You’ll drive consistent program management processes where currently there is little formal governance, defining how teams plan, execute, and monitor their work. You will coordinate cross-functional execution – working closely with engineering, design, QA, and business stakeholders – to ensure all product milestones are met on time. Acting as the bridge between high-level strategy and on-the-ground execution, you will provide strategic guidance to teams while also diving in to resolve issues and eliminate roadblocks. You are both the visionary and the executor – ensuring that each project delivers value, the overall program advances our business goals, and the delivery organization matures in readiness for future growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience managing complex projects or programs, including experience leading multiple simultaneous workstreams (consulting, technology, or defense industry background preferred). Demonstrated success in implementing project delivery improvements in an organizational change (such as post-merger integration).
  • Strong grasp of both program management and product development lifecycle. Ability to balance structured project management with a product-focused approach that keeps end-user value in mind. Experience bringing order to ambiguous environments by introducing best practices, tools, and light governance to improve delivery outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead and communicate with an ability to influence at all levels. Excellent stakeholder management skills; comfortable collaborating with senior executives, clients, and cross-functional teams to drive alignment. Capable of succinctly communicating program vision, status, and issues to diverse audiences.
  • A hands-on leader who can both manage and do. As a true “player-coach”, a willingness to dive into project details to solve problems, create plans, or produce documentation, while also empowering and guiding team members.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities. Skilled at identifying project risks and organizational pain points early, and devising creative solutions or process improvements to address them. Adaptable to changing priorities and able to navigate uncertainty with agility.
  • High attention to detail in planning and documentation. Track record of establishing clear project plans, maintaining thorough documentation of requirements/decisions, and producing regular status reports or dashboards for leadership. Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities and keep teams coordinated.
  • Ability to understand constraints and expectations in a mission-critical, highly secure setting. Able to quickly learn domain-specific processes or compliance requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a hybrid program and product delivery lead, driving consistent management practices across all projects. Implement product delivery best practices and provide strategic guidance to the team. Define processes and execute governance to ensure cohesive and impactful program execution.
  • Integrate a product ownership perspective into program management. Oversee cross-functional efforts by coordinating engineering, design, QA, and business teams to ensure on-time delivery of all product milestones. Align project outcomes with broader product strategy and business objectives, ensuring each delivery has a meaningful impact.
  • Lead program planning and governance activities. Establish project schedules, track inter-project dependencies, manage issues, and proactively mitigate risks to delivery. Implement simple yet effective governance (status reports, check-ins) to provide transparency and report progress to leadership across all workstreams.
  • Act as the key liaison between business stakeholders (including clients or internal executives) and the delivery team, maintaining alignment on goals and expectations3. Serve as a “player-coach” – mentoring and guiding team members while also working alongside them as needed to drive execution. Foster a collaborative team environment and lead by example, readily stepping in to help solve problems or fill gaps.
  • Drive a culture of thorough documentation and reporting for all projects. Maintain clear project plans, decision logs, and up-to-date status reports, ensuring the team and stakeholders have full visibility. Regularly update senior leadership on program progress, key accomplishments, and any issues, with well-organized reports that facilitate data-driven decisions.
  • Help integrate and unify processes and teams impacted by recent acquisitions. Identify disparities in delivery approaches or team cultures and work to harmonize them into best practices, building one cohesive delivery framework. Champion continuous improvement initiatives, using lessons learned to refine our project delivery model and drive ongoing efficiency gains as the organization scales.
